Figure skater.
At the 2002 All Japan Championship when she was still in the six gragde, she became the first female figure skater in the world to land three triple jumps in a row in the sixth grade. She has won 3 World Championships, 3 Four Continents Championships, 4 GP Finals, and 6 All-Japan Championships. 2010 Vancouver Olympics, silver medal. 2014 Sochi Olympics, she gave a performance in the free skate that impressed the world. In March of the same year, she won the World Championships for the third time, the most of any Japanese skater.
After retiring from competition in 2017, she toured all over Japan to deliver her gratitude through her ice show "Mao Asada Thanks Tour. In September 2022, a new ice show "BEYOND" will be held throughout Japan.
